For some, it can be easy when you first start video making. For others, it can be a complete nightmare.
First off, you must decide on who the audience is that you reaching out to. Once you have figured out who your target audience is, figure out your boundaries, your limits in your video making. This can range from VFX limits, to prop limits, etc.
Now this may be a long list at first, but you don't have to make it a long list. Just knowing a few limits can help you in your video making tremendously. Like if you can't make explosions VFX-wise or practically, then don't use explosions where you see them directly. You can make it seem like an explosion occurs by keeping the camera away from where the explosion would occur and you can make debris (like dirt, mulch, flour, etc.) fly onto the talent or something. This method can be applied else where like gunshots.
